Emmerdale Liv Dingle star shares exciting career update after tragic soap exit

Isobel Steele has revealed what she's up to now that she's quit Emmerdale - and if she'd ever go back to soaps.

Liv Dingle - played by Isobel - was killed off in emotional scenes to mark the ITV programme's 50th anniversary, where she was crushed by a caravan as her loved ones surrounded her and said their goodbyes.

Fans were in tears at the emotional scenes, which led to Isobel's exit from the ITV soap. Now she has opened up about what's next for for her and whether she'd make a return to a rival serial drama one day.

Isobel is now working on her own music and auditioning for lots of different types of roles.

Asked about how she felt about her character being killed of, she told Metro.co.uk: "I don’t think it makes too much difference, to be honest, in terms of me. I decided I wanted to leave the show and I’ve left the show and that’s all I need to concern myself about. I wanted to leave to do other things and that’s what’s happened.

"Whether I can go back or not is something I wouldn’t have thought about anyway, so in the current moment it’s not been affected by that decision, so I’m happy either way. It was nice to get to do dramatic scenes at the end and really go for it and really push myself."

She admits the final scenes were tough to film, and she enjoyed being surrounded by some of her closest colleagues.

"It was really full circle where we couldn’t believe it was actually going to be the last time I was there. We film so much and so quick you just get used to being there all the time, it’s like I’m never going to not be here," Isobel explained.

"It was emotional, it was funny, I was hysterical, it was everything. It was really nice to have scenes with Danny Miller and Brad Johnson and Lisa Riley and the people I worked a lot with in the last couple of years."

Isobel is now focusing on her love for music, with her new single out today (April 14).

She previously admitted she was shocked by the storyline which saw her exit the soap: "I first told the producers I wanted to leave in September 2021. When they phoned me in April to tell me Liv was going to be killed in a storm, I had mixed feelings. I was excited because it meant I got to be in the 50th celebrations with a huge storyline, but equally I knew it meant I would never be coming back."
