Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson has promised a dramatic change in the bond between brothers Billy Fletcher and Ellis Chapman.
The pair will be "at war" in upcoming scenes, leading to an explosive time in the village.
When Billy arrived in the village just over a year ago following his prison release, he and Ellis did not get on.
But after months of fighting, they finally put the past behind them and formed a close relationship.
Most recently, Ellis was seen comforting his sibling over his unexpected split with girlfriend Dawn Taylor.
But in upcoming scenes, something yet to be revealed will cause a huge rift between the boys.
While it's not known what causes the row, things get explosive pretty quickly.
It's not clear if the brothers can come back from it, as the two "go to war".
Speaking to Mirror online at a virtual press event, Jane teased the new plot.
She said: "We’ve got a huge Ellis and Billy explosion coming up soon, which I watched the other week and it is absolutely fantastic.
"Brothers at war is where we are heading with them two."
Jane did not go into more detail about it, but it's set to air soon.
Elsewhere, and Jane teased drama for Moira Dingle as her brother Mackenzie arrives later this year with a huge secret.
He isn't the only newcomer hiding something, as Manpreet Sharma's sister Meena arrives too with it clear they have a secret past.
Kim Tate, Belle Dingle and Tracy Metcalfe are all set to take centre stage in the coming months too.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm.
