One of Emmerdale's most recognisable faces will be vaccinated against Covid-19 in an upcoming episode of the Yorkshire soap.
Eric Pollard, played by Chris Chittell, will speak to his on-screen family members about getting the coronavirus jab in an Emmerdale scene which will be beamed to millions of homes.
As reported by The Sun, the 72-year-old will become the first soap actor to openly talk about getting the vaccine.

He will speak to his son David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) about getting the jab and reveal his hopes about spending more time with his grandson Theo.
It is all part of a storyline which has an incredibly important public health message and is aimed at driving uptake among those watching at home.

A source told The Sun: "The moment will resonate with grandparents who’ve been kept away from seeing their grandchildren over several months."
It comes following the news that more than 15 million people across the UK have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Announcing the milestone, vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi tweeted: “15,000,000! Amazing team.
"We will not rest till we offer the vaccine to the whole of phase1 the 1-9 categories of the most vulnerable & all over 50s by end April and then all adults."
Clinically vulnerable people in England are now being invited to book their Covid-19 jab as the vaccination programme moves into a new phase on Monday.
People aged 65 to 69 are also among more than one million people who have been invited to book their vaccine, NHS England said.
