Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley speaks out as 'partner-in-crime' Reece Dinsdale's character is killed off

Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, has spoken out after Reece Dinsdale's character was killed off in an explosive episode.

Paul Ashdale finally met his much-deserved ending in Thursday's show which saw him involved in a nasty confrontation with Liv at the reception barn, as his abuse of son Vinny seemed set to be exposed.

But in a shocking twist, the barn was hit by Jimmy King veering off the road.

With Liv, Jimmy and Paul all hospitalised, viewers witnessed Mandy's heartbreak as Paul passed away from his injuries.

Vinny, who had endured an attack from his dad earlier in the day, was also rushed to A&E.

While Reece has left the show, he won't be going far as he confirmed he will still have a role behind the scenes. You can read more about that here.

After the episode, Lisa Riley posted a message of thanks to her co-star who had appeared alongside her for a year.

She said: "Dearest Reece (DADDY DINZ) thank you for being you, we've had the most brilliant time, worked our a***s off, loads of fun, laughter, tons of silly (normally at your expense) but you wouldn't have it any other way.

"It's been a great time, don't need to say MISS YOU as we will see you behind the camera later in the year.

"GOOD LUCK in all you do, we will always be at TWO METERS and CLEANING BANNISTERS to make you laugh.

"Where's your coat?"

Tagging the show, she made sure to reference seeing Reece soon.

Reece Dinsdale has also been a producer of Emmerdale, and so far has directed one episode on January 29, 2020.

He will be returning to directing the soap.

He had said: "I was actually directing on Emmerdale when I was asked, right out of the blue, if I would like to play Paul.

"I’m delighted to announce, therefore, that I shall begin directing once again on the show in a couple of weeks time.

"I’m the cat that got the cream!"

Emmerdale continues its shocking week on Friday at 7pm.
