Emmerdale hospital scenes reveal the victims in the running for shock death

Emmerdale has left fans guessing all week but as the wedding of Mandy Dingle and Paul Ashdale debuts in a two-part special, it seems the soap has confirmed the victims in the running for the shock death.

But is it dead certain?

In scenes that have been starting episodes all week, we've been looking in on a hospital setting - with emotional visitors all looking in on the patients, whose faces we hadn't yet seen.

Tonight's episode has revealed the faces of those lying in the hospital beds - with Liv unconscious, visited by brother Aaron, a devastated Nicola looking over a battered Jimmy and Mandy, looking less than happy, by Paul's beside.

Aaron could be visiting sister Liv (ITV)

Fans have been enthralled by the acting, stating it has them fully caught up in fear and anticipation.

But does the hospital scene mean Mandy has finally seen the truth of her manipulative fiancée, or have even the viewers been deceived by the victims?

Fans have already theorised that the scenes viewed so far might actually be a dream or even a hallucination.

Whilst Mandy's glowering look at Paul's bedside might suggest that she now knows everything, from his fake kidnapping to his abuse of Vinny, it might not even be real.

It certainly isn't the only plot unfolding, as Nicola King's haphazard plan to clear husband Jimmy's name of stolen goods hasn't quite worked out.

She's found herself locked in the van filled with not meat, but jewellery, by Mackenzie Boyd when he discovered her attempt to film the crime.

It was rumoured earlier in the week that Jimmy is involved in the van crash - which would mean his place in a hospital bed does make sense.

Now, fans will have to wait till tomorrow to find out what happens next.

Fans have been quick to react, with one viewer praising the acting by Reece Dinsdale tonight: "actors who are so good at playing villains, Reece Dinsdale, you are up there with the best.

"Bloody superb performance from Emmerdale - Paul is one sick person.

"Superb performance from Bradley Johnson, the fear you display as Vinny is bloody fab - uncomfortable to watch but cracking TV."

Another added: I'm in awe of the actors who play Vinny, Liv & Paul. They've created a tangible "FEAR" and jittery anticipation through their acting alone the like of which I've never experienced in any other soap, EVER!"

Reece Dinsdale has even faced social media abuse as fans have become so engrossed in the acting.

Others seem to agree with the victims suggested, writing: "If Paul harms Liv, Aaron's guilt will eat him up for telling her to stall Paul, you can see it coming."

Emmerdale continues tomorrow night at 7pm
