Emmerdale hit with Ofcom complaints as gruesome Meena murder plot sickens viewers

Emmerdale's Meena Jutla's reign of terror has been hit by a number of Ofcom complaints.

Viewers tuning into last week's episodes were sickened by the serial killer's plot to drug and murder her own sister Manpreet Sharma as things ramped up on the ITV soap.

Ofcom reports show that the soap was hit by over 150 complaints across Tuesday and Wednesday's episode last week, which saw Meena secure sleeping pills from Dr Liam Cavanagh to try and drug her sister.

Manpreet has been getting closer to the truth of Meena's involvement in the murders and viewers are keen to see Meena finally get what's coming to her after getting away with murder on multiple occasions.

She has already killed Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh as well as her friend Nadine and Manpreet and Vinny Dingle's lives currently hang in the balance as she holds them hostage.

Show bosses recently teased Meena will get some sort of "judgement day" soon.

Speaking to the Mirror and other press, executive producer Jane Hudson said: "I think it's fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming. But whether she'll get away with murder you're going to have to wait and find out.

Fans have been left reeling at the plot (ITV)

"There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story. Some that you probably won't see coming but I think we can all agree that Meena can pretty much do anything."

She added: "But yes, Meena's judgement day is coming. It won't play out quite as you expect, there will be a lasting effect on a lot of the villagers but I think within the next few months, Meena will get what's coming with her."

Viewers were horrified last week when Meena confessed to all her crimes.

"Now, there was quite a gap between Nadine and Leanna. But when the moment came I was so ready for it. She really should have kept her nose out of my business," she chillingly said, "Then after Leanna there was Andrea - magic number three. How about Ben. Poor, sweet little Ben. I’d been caught on one of his little camera things trying to drown Victoria by the waterfall and there we go."
