Hazel, who was in the hospital, she revealed to Kim that Jamie had thrown her down the stairs in a fit of rage. After heartbroken Kim learned the news, she remained strong for Hazel and reported Jamie to the police for attempted murder.

And of course with Hazel back comes the return of actor Kate Anthony, but how much do we know about Kate's life away from Emmerdale?

We've taken a look into the soaps stars life off air from her famous husband, Jewish lifestyle and Game of Thrones fame.

Kate's famous husband

Kate married to former actor and racing driver Gary Barak, who is now better known as an automotive & motorsport PR man, in 1986.

The pair share two children together, Nathan and Lola. They live in London and are members of Richmond Synagogue.

Newcastle-born Gary is the founder of Chicane, a PR and marketing firm in the motor sports sector. His dad Philip held the title of oldest competitive racing driver in the UK. Incredibly, he was still racing at the age of 76.

Jewish lifestyle

Actor Kate is Jewish, which means juggling TV, stage and radio roles with keeping kosher. Kate was brought up in a traditional Orthodox home in Leeds. Speaking about her upbringing she said: "My parents, Jacquie and Tony Lee, ran a jewellery stall in Leeds market and we lived in Alwoodley. Acting was definitely not normal for a nice Jewish girl from Leeds.

"I wanted to be a journalist. I did my A Levels at Harrogate Grammar School and I went to Israel for gap year. I did the whole kibbutz thing, and became uncertain about what to do next. I was meant to do journalism at university."

Her son Nathan had his bar-mitzvah in 2017, with Kate remaining a devout member of the Ealing United Hebrew Congregation. During an interview with TheJC.com, the soap star said: “I keep kosher at home and stick to it when I am travelling.

“Obviously I don't get to go to shul on Shabbat often as I'm usually doing two shows a day. But my agent knows to not book things in for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.”

Game of Thrones fame

Kate has appeared in many popular television shows including Doctors, Heartbeat, Casualty, Boomers and Trollied. Although she is probably best recognised for her role as Pam Hobsworth on rival soap, Coronation Street.

The actor also made an appearance in season 6 of HBO fantasy epic Game of Thrones, alongside Richard E. Grant. She played a Bravossi and said the secrecy of filming was “hilarious”.

The star confessed: “I went to the audition and immediately had to sign three pieces of paper saying I wouldn't disclose anything about the audition. Nor would they tell me anything about the character and I read from a script that had already aired.”

She continued: “They sent scripts with only my scenes, nothing about my character or other scenes. I had no idea what she was in relation to anyone else. They flew me out to Girona for filming, I was in a hotel with only actors involved in my scenes. To be honest I had no idea what was going on."

In a hilarious chat with her co-star Richard, he was apparently equally confused, with Kate laughing: “He said 'I've no idea darling. Say the words and accept the pay cheque’.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV.
