Emmerdale fans have questioned if a twist in the latest episode of the ITV soap could be a way of bringing back fan favourite Robert Sugden.
The character was sent to prison in 2019 over the death of Lee Posner, who had raped his sister Victoria months earlier.
Robert did not mean to kill Lee, but it was his attack that sent him to the ground with him dying from his injuries days later.
Now, fans are wondering if the ITV soap is lining up a return in a surprising twist after Lee's brother Luke dropped a possible killer confession on their mum Wendy.
Luke opened up to her about his sexuality, and a guy named Steven he was in love with long before meeting current girlfriend Victoria.
But when he went to introduce Wendy and brother Lee to his partner at the time, his homophobic brother beat him up and threatened to kill him.
Spouting verbal abuse, Lee launched a violent and unprovoked attack on his brother because he didn't like who he was or who he loved.
Luke explained that he eventually fought back in self-defence, and ended up leaving his brother unconscious.

Lee is said to have fallen backwards when Luke shoved him away from him, with him hitting his head and losing consciousness for a short while.
It was just hours later that he crossed paths with Robert, and we all know how that ended.
Wendy appeared concerned over the fact Lee might have already been seriously injured before Robert hit him.

Now, viewers are wondering if Lee would have survived the attack if he hadn't already hit his head just hours before during the scuffle with Luke.
Considering this, many have questioned if this could reduce Robert's sentence, or perhaps bring him back to the show.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Luke pushed Lee and he hit his head, and it was just before he died. Boom, Ryan you can come back now."
Another fan tweeted: "It was Luke!!! Robert is innocent!!! (Although frankly they're both heroes for ending Lee)."
A third added: "As Luke punched Lee and he hit his head and he died the exact same day Robert punched him. Maybe Lee is the one responsible for his death. Which means Robert can get out of prison and reunite with Aaron."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm.
