Emmerdale fans 'work out' Meena's trial outcome amid Manpreet U-turn on evidence

Emmerdale fans have predicted the possible outcome of serial killer Meena Jutla’s trial on the ITV soap amid sister Manpreet Sharma’s U-turn decision on testifying.

Manpreet has suffered with her mental health of late after a harrowing ordeal at the hands of her murderous sister Meena.

After being drugged, attacked, and held hostage, Manpreet was sure she was going to die as Meena detailed the murders of Andrea Tate, Nadine, Leanna Cavanagh and Ben Tucker at her own hands.

Meena was finally caught last month and made the shock decision to plead not guilty to most of her crimes, so her case will now go to trial.

As the only person who got a literal confession from Meena, Manpreet has been tasked with testifying - but recent scenes on the ITV soap saw the character buckle under the pressure and ultimately refuse.

After suffering a panic attack and fearing what would happen to her during the trial, amid Meena's plot to frame her for Andrea's death, Manpreet revealed she would not be standing against her in court.

But Friday’s half-hour instalment saw Manpreet reconsidering her decision after Liam Cavanaugh brought her some troubling news.

He detailed how the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had said the his daughter Leanne’s ring, which Meena took from her finger after murdering her, was “inadmissible” in the trial.

ITV viewers were initially outraged by the decision and took to Twitter to question it, with one writing: “Inadmissible? Why?”

Another asked: “‘Inadmissible?! Meena pulled it off of Leanne’s dead finger!”

As Manpreet then began to consider taking to the stand after all, under pressure from Liam as he desperately seeks justice for daughter Leanne.

As Manpreet’s involvement in the trial looks increasingly inevitable, fans began to predict how the court proceedings could pan out - with many suggesting Manpreet could appear virtually to avoid being face to face with her vindictive sister.

One wrote: “Couldn't Manpreet give evidence virtually if she doesn't want to face Meena again?”

Another suggested: “Manpreet...ask the court if you can give evidence behind a screen. That way you won't have to see Meena smirking.”

A third wrote: “You just know what's going to happen with Meena. She will be on the brink of getting released and then it doesn't happen because of Manpreet giving evidence.”

This comes after new spoilers detail the moment she changes her mind, as an offer from lawyer Ethan, her former stepson, leaves her determined to bring her sister down.

Meena seems convinced she's going to walk free for her crimes, while her sister and Ethan prepare for what's ahead.

The villain is all fired-up and ready to put on a show-stopping performance once she realises Manpreet is testifying, and she plans her opportunity to publicly destroy her sister for once and for all.
