Emmerdale fans will recognise Paddy Kirk actor's famous wife who has even appeared in ITV soap

Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt is best known to viewers as his on-screen character.

The actor has played Paddy Kirk in the ITV soap since 1997 and is undoubtedly one of the show's most iconic characters.

And it's been a busy 20-odd years for Dominic on the soap, with four marriages under his belt, several affairs and even recently underwent a name change to Paddy Dingle.

But there has also been more serious times too including discovering his biological father and dealing with the loss of his child.

While his love life in the Dales has been turbulent, in real life, he is very settled - and has a famous actress wife you might recognise, LeedsLive reports.

Dominic has been married to wife Joanne Mitchell since 2003 and the couple have two children together.

But while the Macclesfield-born actor is more well-known than his spouse, Joanne has plenty of acting credits to her name - and has even starred in Emmerdale multiple times.

The 49-year-old has had four roles on the Yorkshire soap, playing Susan Davies, a midwife called Yeo, DS Karen Barnborough and most recently Sandra Flaherty - the mother and stepmother of Liv Flaherty and Aaron Livesy, respectively.

Sanrda recently reappeared on-screen as Liv's began drinking again after the barn explosion, where she left her boyfriend's dad Paul for dead.

Struggling to cope with the guilt, and splitting with Vinny, Liv went off to find her mum who didn't mind indulging in a few tipples with her daughter.

Joanne has also appeared multiple times in Doctors, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, as well as Bad Girls, Casualty, Heartbeat and A Touch of Frost.
