Emmerdale fans will recognise Lydia's mum Agatha Finn in stolen money drama

Emmerdale introduced Lydia Hart's estranged mum Agatha Finn and sister Beth in last night's double bill of the ITV soap.

And fans will recognise Agatha, played by soap veteran Judith Barker, who had a recurring role in Coronation Street .

Judith played Janet Reid in Corrie from 1969 until the character was killed off in 1977.

During her stint, Janet married Ken Barlow in 1972 but they were separated by the time of her death from an overdose of sleeping pills.

Judith went on to play a number of TV characters after her Corrie exit, including roles in Scott & Bailey, Waterloo Road and Channel 4 drama Scully.

Her arrival in Emmerdale comes after it was revealed that her character Agatha was Lydia's mystery benefactor.

Mandy Dingle had dug up the secret and discovered Agatha's address, which she decided to travel to in the hopes of reconnecting Lydia to her family.

When she arrived Lydia's sister Beth answered the door, delivering some bad news.

She said: "Thing is, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, you're too late. Mum died three weeks ago... It came as a shock to us all."

But it turned out that Beth just didn't want to know her sister as Agatha was revealed to still be alive.

Mandy, played by Lisa Riley, had decided to claim Lydia's inheritance money for herself.

Her decision to find Lydia's mum was all part of her plan to redeem herself.

Lisa said her character had to act like a detective to find out where the money had come from.

She explained: "Mandy becomes like Miss Marple! She will not stop as she tries to figure out where this money has come from. The light-bulb goes off for Mandy and she realises that this is her way of saying sorry."
