Emmerdale fans turn to Google after episode leaves them confused

Emmerdale fans were left relying on a search engine during Thursday's episode after a blast from the past left them confused.

Viewers watched as Charity was distant with Mack after receiving an ominous phone call earlier this week. She had spent the night on the sofa after drinking wine alone.

She then jumped into Caleb's car while he sat in the café, and persuaded Cain to come for a "joyride" for "old time's sake".

Many who had tuned in assumed the mystery caller had told her Mack cheated on her by sleeping with Chloe, who is now pregnant with his baby. But this wasn't the case.

As Cain and Charity's car journey came to an end, they arrived at a cemetery.

The headstone showed it was the grave of Mark Bails, and while some diehard fans knew exactly who that is, others were left baffled. Taking to Twitter, Dani said: "How did she know Caleb dropped his keys? Why did Cain leave his coffee on top of the car? Who the f*** is Mark Bails?"

Momo said: "Who is Mark Bails?", while Michael said: "Anybody on else on Google?" and Rach said: "Straight to Google to remind me who he actually is".

Mark Bails was Harriet Finch's former boss who abused and raped Charity Dingle whilst she was a teenager which resulted in him fathering Charity's son, Ryan. He was finally sent to prison in 2018, but it was revealed during the latest Emmerdale episode that he died last month, after having a heart attack in his cell.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX
