Emmerdale fans were shocked as Jamie Tate appeared to drown following a car crash.
The epic twist aired at the end of Thursday night's second episode of the night.
Jamie, the son of Kim Tate, was secretly fleeing the village after confessing his love to ex-girlfriend Dawn Taylor.
The pair split after Dawn discovered that he was trying to frame her dad for posing Kim, when it was in fact him all along.

Dawn, however, wasn't willing to run away with him to start a new life and he was seen leaving solo in his car.
But the vet was being badgered by Gabby Thomas, who is pregnant with his child, as they agreed to marry in order to stifle money from Kim.
Gabby had already begun their getaway before she was stopped by Kim and grandmother Dianne Sugden.
The mum-to-be was adamant she and Jamie were getting married and there was nothing they could do to stop them.
But as she tried to call him again, Jamie became distracted by his phone and drifted into the path of Chas Dingle's car.
As they both swerved, Jamie burst through a fence only to fall straight off the edge into a lake off the side of the road.
The episode credits rolled just as the car sunk - without viewers knowing if Jamie could make it out alive or what happened to Chas.
Emmerdale fans, however, thought something even more sinister was about to happen.
"Totally thought Jamie was actually gona end up crashing into Gabby, killing her & the baby possibly NOT the river #Emmerdale," teweete one.
Another echoed: "Still not over that ending omg! I first thought Gabby was gonna get accidentally run over by Jamie #Emmerdale."
"Thought Gabby, Diane and Kim were going to be Jamie’s human skittles then!!!! #Emmerdale," a third added.
Now they're trying to work out Jamie's fate.
"Didn’t see that coming with Jamie! Will anyone find him ??? #Emmerdale," one said.
Another tweeted; "If David survived a point blank gun shot and Charity had a bleed on the brain yesterday, I'm sure Jamie will be just fine, infact he'll not even get his hair wet!! #emmerdale."
"Don’t know if this is the end for Jamie I feel like there could be another twist cannot wait for tomorrow’s episode," a third commented.
A fourth said: "#Emmerdale Is Jamie gonna turn up somewhere down the line? He's not finished with Kim, yet!!"
But one fan thinks they've spotted what proves Jamie isn't coming back.
"#Emmerdale If Jamie Tate is dead (which I believe as Emmerdale’s YouTube have uploaded a video about his character journey, which usually happens when a character leaves or is killed off), he’s come full circle He returned with a car accident and left with a car accident," they shared on Twitter.
