Emmerdale fans' theory over writers as couple get 'too much screen time'

Emmerdale viewers have shared their theories after noticing one "boring" couple getting "too much" screen time.

During tonight's episode Leyla Harding was faced with the consequences of her actions when she tried to bring drug dealer Callum down. Not only has she now put her own life in danger, but Callum has also threatened to harm her son Jacob.

Meanwhile, Laurel Thomas and Jai Sharma continue to look after Marshall Hamston after he was disowned by his dad Colin. Jai told Laurel he was worried about the impact this could have on family life but unbeknownst to them, Marshall overheard their conversation.

And Amy Wyatt and Matty Barton announced their engagement to friend Victoria Sudgen. The happy couple featured quite regularly during the latest episode of the ITV soap which did not go unnoticed.

Some viewers found their storyline "boring" and said they shouldn't be given so much screen time. @aaron_dingles asked on Twitter: "Is there anything blander than Amy and Matty?"

@Margare16040532 suggested: "Please Amy-enjoy your future with Matty....just out of Emmerdale."

@AprilQuinn2x complained: "Oh my gosh. Matty and Amy snore fest continues. They aren’t just boring. They are BORING."

@funkygibbons wondered: "Why are Matty and Amy in this so much lately?"

And @MickJohnPNEFC wrote: "Too much Matty & Amy in this episode there already sending me under....."

Other viewers complained about the scriptwriters, saying some of the storylines were "far-fetched", especially Leyla's.

@CaroleAnn1982 criticsed: "I think there are two sets of scriptwriters, tonight's are the 'other' ones and as penance they get the most boring, cast members unlike the ones who wrote the lock in episode which was a master class."

@PaulPoeUK wrote: "How pathetic is this storyline, even the actors have to play out how stupid the script with 'why did I antagonise him?' 'Why did I gloat to him?' it’s the writers covering there backs on how far fetched the storylines are."
