Emmerdale viewers didn't know whether to laugh or cry on Friday night, as the ITV announcer appeared to leak a major spoiler.
Just before the latest episode aired, the announcer teased what was ahead - unintentionally letting slip a key twist after days of secrecy.
While those soap fans who read all the latest spoilers would have been aware of the twist, as it had already been confirmed by the ITV soap, those who deliberately avoid spoilers were in for a shock.
As the soap kicked off on Friday night, the announcer questioned whether a character could finally "come to Manpreet's rescue".
But as far as fans were aware, Manpreet was dead after possibly being murdered by her killer sister Meena Jutla earlier in the week.
Meena was shown seemingly carrying a body, wrapped in plastic sheeting, preparing to dispose of it - before stating it was the body of her sister.
She had held Manpreet captive for over a week, after she learned her sister was a serial killer.
In the days since, fans have been trying to work out if Manpreet was really dead or not - while spoilers had already confirmed her fate.
But those tuning in on Friday night who had not seen the spoilers soon had her fate confirmed for them, 30 minutes before a major twist aired.
At the end of the episode, Vinny Dingle followed Meena to a disused barn and was horrified to find Manpreet tied up inside, and barely conscious.
He himself was then knocked out and now faces grave danger, as Meena plots to kill them both.
But all this was seemingly spoiled before the show had even started, as the announcer basically confirmed Manpreet was alive and still being held captive.
Taking to Twitter, fans mocked the moment as others called it "pointless avoiding spoilers" only for the announcer to spill the beans early.
One fan tweeted: "Pointless avoiding spoilers online when the announcer does it seconds before the show starts."
A second added: "So Manpreet isn't dead? Thanks voice over woman."
Another tweeted: "TV announcer gives up the worst kept secret on British TV at the start."
Meanwhile another added: "Lol the #ITV announcer casually giving away plot spoilers ahead of # emmerdale... 'can a villager come to Manpreet’s rescue'....so she’s not dead then!?"
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
