The abuse story line between the father and son has been playing out over the past few months but it seems it his all become too much for ITV viewers who are calling for Paul to be given the axe.

Paul has been emotionally and physically abusing his son for a while but this latest beating leaves Vinny fighting for his life.

The violent character was later seen panicking as his son lay lifelessly on the gravel, after the cruel attack Paul told Vinny he was sorry as he urged his son to wake up. He was about to leave the scene when Vinny started to come around.

It was all too much for Emmerdale viewers, who took to Facebook to complain about the graphic scenes.

One annoyed viewer said: "For goodness sake, it's only 7.20pm and a grown man is kicking his son to death - it's disgusting."

A second said: "I couldn't watch it's disgusting."

A third social media user added: "Why does this abuse go on for so long? It's ridiculous, get rid of Paul!"

Another posted: "Horrible I had to turn it over, made me sick to my stomach, don't need that at the present time."

One more said: "It was horrible to watch."

While one upset fan said: "Poor Vinny, I hope he's ok!"
