Emmerdale fans 'shocked and upset' over violent scenes airing before watershed

Emmerdale fans were left floored by the shocking events last night - but some viewers were shocked over violent scenes being aired before the watershed.

Shortly before the huge crash that has so far claimed the life of Emmerdale villagers Paul Ashdale and leaves both Jimmy King and Liv Flaherty with their lives hanging in the balance, viewers witnessed Paul kicking and beating Liv.

As the crash took place, fans also saw Jimmy hit the front windscreen whilst both Paul and Liv were buried under rubble.

Some fans claimed they were upset by the disturbing scenes of violence.

One social media user wrote: "Paul kicking Liv is far too violent.

"I am shocked and upset.

"I've turned it off.

"I'm going to complain, it's on before the watershed at 9pm."

Others agreed that it was a bit much saying: "It was too graphic".

Some viewers didn't think it went too far, however.

Another person wrote: "It's a soap and we all know what's happening in the episode!

"There were warnings about upsetting scenes and fans knew it was going to be dramatic tonight!"

Fans are still left in suspense as although many think Paul has met his deserving end, others speculate there will be another shocking twist.

Another fan said: "I wonder if Mandy will be told about Paul hitting Vinny?

"I have a horrible feeling that there's going to be a horrible twist with Vinny and they can't kill off Jimmy, he's the last King brother!"
