Emmerdale fans say character has had 'personality transplant'

Emmerdale fans were taken aback on Tuesday night when a character seemed to undergo a "personality transplant".

Viewers watched as Belle and Chas saw Alex chatting to a mystery woman and handing her cash. He later returned to the Woolpack where he told an unsuspecting Naomi he had just been to a very successful job interview.

But once he left the pub, Belle told Naomi what she had seen and Naomi confronted Alex.

As she told him what she had heard, he admitted he had lied to her, but said there was a good reason. He then took her to the village swing park, where a woman was stood with her son.

Alex, who has recently got out of prison, told Naomi he was "inside" with the woman's ex, and the father of her child. He said he "helps her out" from time to time.

But as Alex talked Naomi round, and said he would do "whatever it takes" to keep her in his life, fans at home were confused. Taking to Twitter, Frank said: "Three months ago Alex was chained up and he was a total scumbag, but now we're supposed to believe he is a saint?"

Ashley said: "Has Alex had a complete personality transplant or what?". Penny said: "Is Alex going to have a complete personality change like Sam did?"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX
