Emmerdale viewers were left shocked tonight as Lydia was arrested for pension fraud, but many of them speculated who the true culprit was.
Tonight saw Lydia finish up a virtual interview in the cafe, as she told husband Sam how she thought she'd done well and was proud of herself.
As the pair celebrated and waited to hear the outcome a policewoman arrived and arrested her on suspicion of fraud in relation to a pension scheme scam.
Lydia looked stunned and said she didn't even have a pension as the policewoman took her away to the station and told her to bring her laptop with her.
The villagers were left stunned as they heard of Lydia's arrest, but several viewers suggested the true fraudster was likely to be Paul, after he had had easy access to Lydia's laptop and had previously applied for a loan in her name.
Ryan Glendenning said: "This fraudulent thing with Lydia is either she entered something on the internet by accident. Or it could be Paul's actions on her credit card that has caused her arrest. I think it might have something to do with Paul."
Matthew Chapman said: "And why is Lydia being arrested for something Paul did whilst having a gambling addiction!"
Mike said: "Bet this with Lydia will be when Paul took a loan out in her name surely?"
Brandon said: "#Paul hurting people from beyond the grave."
Bobby Dazzler said: "This pension scheme has Paul written all over it."
At the end of the episode Mandy and Vinny agreed with viewers that Paul could be behind Lydia's downfall, with Sam left raging as Lydia remained in the police station.
