Emmerdale fans point out 'stupid' problem with Callum storyline before surprise character return

Emmerdale viewers have spotted a problem with an "unrealistic" storyline before the surprise return of Rhona Goskirk's ex.

During the latest episode of the ITV soap on April 5, Rhona Goskirk was shocked to see her former husband Gus in The Woolpack. The two had been married nearly two decades ago and their split wasn't exactly amicable.

Viewers were left surprised over Gus' appearance and now wondering what he's doing in Emmerdale. Another unexpected turn of events was the news that drug dealer Callum was released on bail after kidnapping Leyla Harding.

He also attacked Suzy Merton with a brick outside the Take A Vow office. When the police finally caught up with him, Callum took Suzy and Leyla's son Jacob Gallagher hostage and threatened everyone with a gun.

After a dramatic showdown, he was eventually arrested for kidnap, false imprisonment and the possession of a firearm. Given the serious nature of the offences, viewers were not convinced Callum would have been given bail in real life.

@Matt528chap wrote on Twitter: "Who in the name of the lord let Callum out?!"

@AndreaMandula commented: "Callum would never in a million years get bail."

@zakbrownz agreed, saying: "Callum would be tagged bare minimum even if he’d never get bail."

@JamieSummersTV fumed: "Callum being out on bail is stupid."

@Chris1968E tweeted: "Oh yea of course Callum gets bail after kidnapping, drugs & possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life & a shitload of other charges. Are bosses really that stupid."

And @Dancing50216871 asked: "How has Callum got bail! Drugs, kidnapping and gun charges."

It remains to be seen what Callum's release means for Leyla and Suzy.
