Emmerdale fans point out Jamie Tate blunder as he accidentally breaks the law again

Emmerdale fans noticed Jamie Tate has broken the law once again, unwittingly, after an apparent script blunder.

The scheming son of Kim Tate decided to make a shock cruel move during Wednesday's episode, but viewers took to Twitter to point out it was actually illegal.

Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) decided to evict Wendy and Luke Posner from their cottage, as he owns the property.

It was payback after Jamie's wife Andrea was thrown out of the B&B for helping frame Belle for the hit and run that nearly killed Moira Dingle.

Jamie's latest move had fans criticising the script writers (ITV)

But due to the pandemic, there is an eviction ban and landlords must give tenants six month's notice before they have to vacate the property.

One viewer ranted: "Don’t tenants have way more rights these days?! Jamie can’t just throw them out. Another badly researched storyline #emmerdale."

Another remarked: "Good luck trying to evict them Jamie....gotta give 6 months notice #Emmerdale ".

A third commented: "Jamie you can’t evict people without a reasonable explanation #Emmerdale ".

" #Emmerdale landlords can evict their tenants without any reason so unfortunately the law is on Jamie’s side. Can’t somebody just clout him round his canister & get rid of him," added another.

"Okay i know Wendy and Luke are as boring as bland Jamie but what have they done to deserve that eviction (other than Jamie continuing to be a prized idiot!)" pondered another.

In upcoming scenes on the soap, a loose-lipped Jamie comes clean and confesses to Lydia Dingle what he has done.

Soon the Dingles are plotting their revenge on Jamie, who hits the bottle and gets drunk, accidentally slipping and hitting his head, falling unconscious.

Will Jamie wake up? Or will someone take advantage of his vulnerable state?

* Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
