Emmerdale fans outraged as scheming Meena leaves dog to die in hot car making 'uncomfortable' viewing

Emmerdale fans were outraged during latest scenes from the soap after a dog was left to die in a hot car.

Millie Tate's dog, Princess, ended up being rushed to the vets after finally being found by shop owner David Metcalfe who sounded the alarm to the struggling pup.

Viewers were seemingly unaware of how Princess became trapped but knew there was something suspicious going on.

It came as Andrea and Charles were packing up for their trip to the Lake District and Andrea left Princess securely tied up outside in the shade.

But a series of distractions saw the family unaware the Princess managed to get away - because someone managed to tease her away with her favourite toy, directly into the hot car.

By the end of the second episode of the night, it was revealed that evil Meena was behind as she was seen opening her handbag, revealing she had the poor dog's favourite squeaky toy.

As fans are aware, Meena isn't shy when it comes to getting involved in situations she's not wanted.

She's determined to get her sister Manpreet to reunite with Charles - but clearly new girlfriend Andrew now stands in the way.

But fans were left fuming by her latest actions in the upsetting scenes.

"Can someone go and check on the dog. PLEASEEE, I'M fuming right now," tweeted one.

Another raged: "TOO FAR @emmerdale TOO FAR. HOW DARE YOU SHOW THIS! A LITTLE POOR DEFENCELESS DOG TRAPPED IN A HOT CAR."

"@emmerdale Oh my days. What a return to tonight's second episode. And no warning? A tiny dog laid unmoving on a car's back seat? Shock factor was it? #Emmerdale #EmmerdaleRuined," a third fumed.

A fourth added: "#emmerdale is hurting hearts with this little dog storyline."

"Leaving the dog in a car on a hot day is actually making me feel sick. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel @emmerdale. Absolutely disgusting storyline #emmerdale," another said.

A viewer also added: "Who would be so heartless and what have they got to gain by locking a dog in an extremely hot car. Shocking and very uncomfortable viewing #Emmerdale."

But others felt it was important to highlight the dangers with the UK currently experiencing sunnier weather.

"People are moaning about this leaving a dog in a hot car and leaving them in it.. but I think @emmerdale have done well highlighting something that happens far to many times in real life #emmerdale," a viewer said.

Another tweeted: "Also good they show it cause people think ok leave dog in car with shuts on red hot day, it’s common sense leave window open little bit. If u are going in shop so got fresh air @emmerdale @ITV @itvhub #animalcruel #emmerdale."

"Great to see @emmerdale highlight the danger of shutting a dog in a vehicle without any ventilation. If you’ve got animal, do the responsible thing & take good care of them! #Emmerdale," a third added.
