Emmerdale fans in tears as Mandy Dingle makes tragic confession to adopted son Vinny

In Monday's Emmerdale, Mandy and Vinny starred in the shows special lockdown episode filmed during the coronavirus pandemic.

The upcoming episodes of the ITV soap were filmed adhering to social distancing measures, so they feature just pairs of characters and are cleverly filmed so the actors do not get too close or share props.

The stars have also been doing their own hair and makeup instead of their usual glam team.

Fans were heartbroken as Mandy, played by Lisa Riley, made a confession to her adoptive son Vinny, played by Bradley Johnson.

Mandy suffered a miscarriage and later found out she could not have children (ITV)

She has cared for Vinny as her own because his dad is her former flame, Paul, but Mandy admitted during the episode that she cannot have children of her own.

She revealed she had a miscarriage after a traumatic hemorrhage, and she had never told anyone about it.

"After the operation when they told me I couldn't have kids I was devastated," she confessed.

The touching scene explained why Vinny means so much to Mandy (ITV)

"I am forever going to be what society calls 'incomplete'.

"I am a jigsaw with missing pieces."

She told Vinny never to think he is not enough, because he is her whole world, and all that matters to her, and in turn he called her "my real mum", and she looked overjoyed.

Lisa previously appeared on This Morning and warned that things would get emotional and that her character Mandy's secret is an issue that soaps rarely tackle.

She told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "Paul has arrived at Lydia and Sammy’s wedding. There is a big story, and as soap does, it will unfold but not immediately.

"You will have little pipettes of who Paul really is and what is he up to. Is it good is it bad? You’ll find out."

Opening up about what would be happening tonight, she teased: "Tonight, you will pick up from where they go into lockdown.

"Mandy is an attention seeker, she has a karaoke machine and she’s got alcohol. She has got her audience but there’s no real audience, she only has Vinny."
