Emmerdale fans fear Marlon has coronavirus after he collapses shaking with temperature

Emmerdale viewers were stunned tonight when Marlon Dingle collapsed - and fear he may have coronavirus.

Paddy Kirk took his anxious friend out for a drive with baby Eve after he was questioned by the police over missing charity money.

Alarm bells started ringing when Marlon revealed he wasn't feeling well and complained about pains in his chest.

Marlon started shaking as he clutched at his chest and revealed he was feeling hot, which is a symptom of COVID-19.

Explaining the extent of his agony, Marlon said: "I really don't feel well. I ache all over. I keep going hot and cold. Like I can't catch my breathe."

After revealing that he was also suffering pain in his chest, back and neck, frantic Marlon started calling out to Paddy.

Paddy held his friend ans tried to calm him down - fearing that he was actually having a heart attack.

The scenes were filmed in advance of coronavirus being declared a pandemic and causing deaths in the UK.

But worried Emmerdale viewers took to Twitter to question whether Marlon was suffering from coronavirus.

It was announced earlier today that Corrie and Emmerdale have decided to reduce the amount of episodes they air each week.

The move to show only three episodes from the cobbles and five from the Dales each week comes in a bid to keep them on air for as long as possible.

A statement from ITV today read: "The continued transmission of both soaps is a priority to all of us at ITV and to our audiences who enjoy the shows.

"Whilst carefully adhering to the latest health advice from the Government and Public Health England, our production teams are continuing to film episodes in Manchester and Leeds.

"With this change of transmission pattern it will ensure we have great new soap episodes coming to air every weekday night until at least the early summer.

"With effect from Monday 30 March Coronation Street and Emmerdale's scheduling pattern will be changing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Emmerdale will air Monday to Friday at 7pm and Coronation Street Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm."

*Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
