Emmerdale fans don't recognise character after transformation

Emmerdale fans were taken aback during Thursday's episode, when a longstanding character looked considerably different than in recent years.

Heath Hope, played by Sebastian Dowling, made a rare appearance on the show as part of a plan concocted by his sister Cathy. Cathy had organised her brother, along with friends Arthur and April, meet her in the café.

Unbeknown to Arthur it was an unsubtle plot to get him and April alone together, after April confided in Cathy that she has a crush on him.

Cathy quickly said she and Heath needed to leave immediately to walk Vinny's dog. Heath protested as he'd just ordered a milkshake, but Cathy all but dragged him outside.

Seasoned Emmerdale fans will remember Heath as a baby-faced schoolboy, the son of Bob and the late Viv Hope. But viewers were shown a completely different Heath during Thursday's programme.

Heath looked incredibly grown up, sporting a thick head of long hair that looked to have been coiffed to perfection.

Taking to Twitter, Lydia said: "Blimey! Didn't recognise Heath there". Peggy said: "Ooh Heath channelling Kurt Cobain", while Jamal said: "Heath with shaggy hair and a deep voice", and Colin White said: "Loving Heath's hair".

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
