Emmerdale fans demand to know 'where Kim Tate has gone'

Emmerdale viewers were left confused during Thursday's episode as one iconic character appeared to have had a "personality transplant".

Those watching the show tonight saw a devastated Dawn attend her best friend Beth's funeral after receiving news she'd died from an overdose. Beth had never been mentioned before, but Dawn explained to Kim that they became close while "on the game" together.

While Dawn was at the service, Kim entered the café and asked Brenda her advice on sending Dawn a kind text message asking how the funeral had gone.

Later scenes saw Kim reassuring Billy he had done the right thing by letting Dawn go to the funeral alone. She said: "The girl knows her own mind. She'll say her goodbyes and then move on".

But many watching at home were taken aback by the usually ballsy Emmerdale matriarch acting so kindly and compassionately. Taking to Twitter, a Meena Jutla fan account said: "Omg look at Kim being kind".

Jessica said: "Why have they given Kim a personality transplant? Where has the old Kim gone?". Sophie said: "Why is Kim being nice to Nicola? Come on. That's not our Kimothy!" [sic] and BnmPlanet said: "Emmerdale what are you doing to these feisty women?"

Emmerdale continues weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
