Emmerdale fans cringe at 'weird' soap crossover as EastEnders' Peter makes an appearance

Emmerdale fans were left cringing on Wednesday night as the climate change soap crossover continued.

Last month it was confirmed that Emmerdale, EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks would be coming together to highlight various issues as part of Climate Action Week.

In the latest episode of Emmerdale, Amelia was seen discussing the idea of doing Meat Free Mondays in the local cafe with Amy.

As she held up her mobile phone, she referenced to a man named Peter Beale who is doing it in Walford.

However, viewers weren't overly impressed with the crossover and took to Twitter to comment.

Emmerdale gave EastEnders a mention on Wednesday evening as the climate change crossover continued (ITV)

One person posted: "It's a bit silly really hearing the reference to Walford & strange seeing Peter Beale on the phone! #Emmerdale."

Another tweeted: "CRIIIIINNNGE at the shoe-horning of ‘Stenders into #emmerdale."

A third person joked: "That's the most I've seen of #Eastenders in a long time #Emmerdale."

And a fourth added: "This crossover between soaps is pretty poor to be honest. I genuinely hoped Meena would pop up in Weatherfield or Albert Square and murder someone #emmerdale #Corrie #hollyoaks #EastEnders."

EastEnders character Peter Beale was given a mention as a video of him was shown (ITV)

Someone else pointed out: "People who don't watch the other 2 (main) Soaps are gonna be so confused. #Emmerdale."

It comes after EastEnders fans were left speechless on Tuesday evening after spotting two Corrie stars in Walford.

Tiffany Butcher was seen watching a video of Maria Connor and Tracy Barlow having a furious row over the pollution in Weatherfield.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
