Emmerdale fans convinced Cain didn't kill Al as ITV soap drops two telling signs

Emmerdale bosses have appeared to drop two signs Cain Dingle didn't murder Al Chapman in a horror gun showdown.

Al - played by Michael Wildman - died after him and Cain ( Jeff Hordley ) got caught up in a fist fight. He was shot with the gun bought to the barn by Cain, but fans are convinced he wasn't the one to pull the trigger.

Cain was fuming at Al after finding out he was having an affair with Cain's sister Chas - and called him to the barn to have it out with him. He was left fuming after realising what Al and Chas had been doing and vowed to take on his nemesis.

After the pair were involved in a fist fight, Al was shot in horror scenes, but whilst Cain was seen holding the gun, fans are convinced he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger and saw to the end of the businessman.

As the fall out from the shooting aired, Cain was seen in prison as Moira managed to get in touch with him and asked him directly if he had shot Al. He didn't reply, leaving fans of the show convinced he is instead covering for someone.

Later, Chas headed to the prison to speak to Cain who pleaded with her to help him.

She was fuming, insisting Cain had ruined her chance of happiness with Al, insisting he really did love her.

Bosses of the show appeared to then drop a second hint at what happened that day, as Cain referenced when they got caught up in a car crash and Al saved his life by pulling him from the wreckage.

Fans then questioned why Cain would go to kill Al if he had said they had called it 'quits' on their feud after he saved his life.

Meanwhile, Michael previously opened up to The Mirror about his final scenes.

"Al and Cain have been at loggerheads on and off for two years. They have done a lot of talking, there has been a lot of banter but ultimately, Al was blinded by love," he said, "He had fallen heavily for Chas and this was his downfall. Al and Cain had no room left for talk. They wanted a scrap but until last night, they didn’t know where that fight would end.

"I wanted Al to go out with a bang, and last night he most definitely did. I am so pleased. It's been brilliant to be part of the 50th celebrations and it’s a great time to die... I did have a lump in my throat when I finished filming."
