Emmerdale viewers were a little confused recently when they saw Cain Dingle threaten his son Nate Robinson yet again on the ITV soap.
After clashing with Kim Tate over her threat to make ex Moira Dingle's farm bankrupt, Cain had to be held back from doing anything stupid.
Seconds later, Cain tugged his arm out of Nate's grip before giving him some stern words.
Cain warned him never to touch him again, suggesting he would regret it.
Things got quite tense between the pair with Rhona Goskirk forced to intervene, as Cain told him to leave.
It's no wonder he's still angry, given Nate deliberately tore his marriage to Moira apart.
Wanting to bring him down for abandoning him as a baby, secret son Nate started an affair with Moira to get back at him - unaware he didn't know he existed.
Moira and Cain split, while it looks like they may finally reconcile after her accident.
That said, viewers were confused because while forgiveness wasn't achieved, Cain had appeared to sort things out with Nate.
He accidentally shot and almost killed his son recently, leading to Nate lying to the police to keep him out of jail.
The moment was a turning point for the father and son, with Cain trying to get to know him a little more.
As well as the odd chat, Cain checked on Nate to make sure he was okay.
Not only that, he allowed Nate to take his younger siblings Kyle and Isaac out for the day, leaving Moira annoyed.
So for Cain to suddenly hate Nate again and turn on him the way he did, left some fans confused and questioning if the writers had forgotten the scene where the duo sort of made amends.
One viewer wrote on Twitter : " #Emmerdale I thought Cain & Nate sorted their problems out so why is Cain talking to him like that?"
Others agreed, with some even liking the post - but fans might remember Cain made a confession about his son in June that could explain things.
He's unlikely to forgive Nate overnight, and during the lockdown episode he told nephew Aaron Dingle how he wasn't sure he could ever see him as his son.
Aaron urged him not to give up, but clearly Cain came to the decision that he could not have Nate in his life.
It's unclear in terms of the timeline how far apart the lockdown scenes were to the recent clash, but his revenge plan and fling with Moira a year ago will obviously not work in Nate's favour.
While they cleared the air, it seems Cain isn't quite ready to forgive and forget.
