Emmerdale fans can't stop laughing at Jimmy King and Mandy Dingle's socially distanced kiss

Emmerdale fans were left in hysterics after last night's episode of the ITV soap when Mandy Dingle and Jimmy King shared a kiss.

The heartfelt altercation between the two actors Lisa Riley and Nick Miles had to be filmed in line with the current social distancing rules, meaning the two had to sit apart on separate benches to film the scene.

Mandy confided in Mandy, ahead of his court appearance and Mandy told him her wishes to read a statement to the judge at his hearing, The Mirror reports.

Touched by Mandy's speech, Jimmy leaned in to kiss her but the soap quickly cut to an ad break.

When the show returned after the advert, Mandy was seen telling an apologetic Jimmy not to worry about it.

Emmerdale fans couldn't stop laughing as they took to social media to comment.

"Nice socially distanced kiss #Emmerdale," one person tweeted, followed by a laughing face emoji.

Another posted: "#Emmerdale I liked how it showed they were about to kiss then cut to commercials maybe their partners weren't available to do the scenes."

A third added: "Jimmy launching on Mandy is the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages! #emmerdale."

And a fourth tweeted: "Socially distant attempts at kisses are horrendous #emmerdale."

Other viewers were shocked by the kiss but were keen to see Jimmy and Mandy couple up and enjoy a romance.

One wrote: "Jimmy & Mandy = POWER COUPLE make it happen."

A second tweeted: "Jimmy launching on Mandy is the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages!"

Moments after the kiss, Nicola appeared and for a moment it seemed that she might have witnessed the intimate moment.

She then tried to make Jimmy feel positive about the result.

“And I’ll get off tomorrow and walk out of court a free man and we’ll all live happily ever after,” Jimmy bitterly replied to her.

He added: “I made such a mess of my evidence - as if every word was a lie.

“I know what that jury thinks of me. I don’t need to wait for the verdict. Your relentless positivity isn’t going to make any difference.

“I’m going upstairs to pack a bag. You might be in denial but I’m not.

“There’s a good chance you’ll be coming home from court on your own tomorrow and I’ll be on my way to prison.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
