Emmerdale fans blasted DI Malone's seemingly "miraculous" recovery this evening - despite suffering a brutal blow to the head.
Things seemed dire for the detective after a tussle with love rival Will resulted in having a wrench slammed into his temple.
Tonight, Will panicked after seeing what he had done and frantically phoned Billy for help in covering up what he had done.
Somehow, while their backs were turned, a previously dead Malone managed to make an escape and sought sanctuary in vicar Harriet's church.
Malone declined her suggestion to go to hospital and she reluctantly allowed him to stay in the church.
But fans were left with raised eyebrows that DI Malone had managed to survive the attack.
One tweeted: "I don't think a bit of Savlon and a plaster will help that crack on the head with a wrench #Emmerdale."
While another commented: "Belted across the head with a spanner and no concussion. #Emmerdale."
A third wrote: "I knew Malone would get up without a scratch! #Emmerdale."
