Emmerdale fans have been left baffled by Samson Dingle’s character on the ITV soap after it was revealed that he is the father of Amelia Spencer’s baby.
On Thursday evening, Samson was chatting to Noah about Amelia when the conversation descended into an argument, which ended in Amelia's pregnancy and the father of the baby bombshell finally airing.
In the aftermath of the discovery, Samson behaved appallingly, demanding Amelia have an abortion as he refused the responsibility of being a father, insisting he wanted to leave the village following his stellar exam results.
The hurled insults continued on Friday night’s instalment of the soap, when Samson dropped in to speak with Amelia about how they should proceed and he continued to try to convince her to have an abortion.
"Do the maths, Samson. I'm 25 weeks and the cut off is 24," Amelia explained, before adding that she wouldn't have an abortion even if she could.
Samson upset her again by accusing Amelia of trying to ruin his life, before the row spilled out into the streets of the village.
"It's not going away, Samson, just because you wish it would," Amelia shouted.
Samson callously yelled at Amelia to "just get it adopted", but Dan heard enough and went after Samson when he insulted Amelia's late mum.
Sam angrily pulled Dan away and threatened to fight him, as Amelia begged for everyone to stop this chaos.
The dramatic scenes left Emmerdale fans appalled as they slammed the ITV soap for dramatically altering Samson’s personality over the course of two episodes.
Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Watching Emmerdale for the first time in months and when did Samson, lovely, lovely Samson become a vicious, selfish thug? I do not like it.”
A second tweeted: “No, no. They’ve completely changed Samson’s personality. This isn’t him. He was caring towards Amelia, her hair, everything. It makes no sense.”
A third asked: “Has Samson had the fastest personality transplant in the history of soap?”
“Sorry this Samson storyline is ridiculous. He’s always been such a lovely lad and they’ve ruined him,” another fan wrote as a fellow soap watcher added: “Samson was the only decent kid in the village and now they’ve turned him into Chucky 2.0.”
One fan concluded: “Sampson has completely changed overnight! I get he doesn’t want a child at 16 but shouting “have an abortion, get it adopted” repeatedly is just so out of character for him.”
