Emmerdale couples who live together in real life away from ITV soap

Emmerdale is filled with steamy romances and drama, but away from the village there's even more romance going on.

The stars of the show are well known for embarking on romantic encounters and overcoming relationship hurdles on screen, but when the cameras stop rolling several couples remain loved up.

The ITV soap has many real life couples, with some romances blossoming after the stars met on set.

But others were an item long before they appeared on Emmerdale.

Lots of the couples have been locked down together and some have even played each other's love interest in the soap.

But some of them may even surprise you - reports Hull Live.

Here's a look at the real life Emmerdale couples.

Natalie J Robb and Jonny Mcpherson

According to reports, Natalie J Robb and Jonny McPherson have been dating since the beginning of last year and it looks like things have become rather serious.

The stars are said to be currently living together and news of their romance first broke when they appeared together on a Zoom call to celebrate their co-star Liam Fox's 50th birthday last June.

They’ve yet to confirm their relationship publicly but all signs suggest they are very much an item.

Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry

Jeff, who plays Cain Dingle, married Zoe back in 2003.

Jeff joined the show in 2000 and Zoe plays Rhona Goskirk in the village soap.

But the pair met a long time before they starred in Emmerdale, as they got together when they were at drama school.

Jeff previously told Soaplife: "We met at drama school in 1994, I saw Zoe and realised she was the girl for me."

Jeff and Zoe have two children together called Violet and Stan.

Michelle Hardwick and Kate Brooks

Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, proposed to the show’s producer Kate Brooks with a romantic flash mob, and the couple married in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2018, Michelle confirmed the romance on Twitter and they tied the knot a year later.

Michelle gave birth to their first son Edward Peter Brooks, who they nicknamed Teddy, last October.

Dominic Brunt and Joanne Mitchell

Dominic, who of course plays the popular Paddy Kirk, has been married to Joanne Mitchell since 2003.

The pair met at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Emmerdale fans have seen Joanne crop up in guest parts and will remember her as Sandra Flaherty, the stepmother of Aaron Livesy.

Dominic and Joanne have worked together on projects outside of the soap including a horror film.

The couple have a son named Danny together.

Fiona Wade and Simon Cotton

Fans will know Fiona as Priya Sharma in the soap while Simon played Home Farm Estate client Hugh Bryant.

After getting engaged, Fiona told Lorraine: "It was a sequence of clues, involving my best friends and my mother.

"He took me to this beautiful hotel in London, then he took me to my home where my dad passed away.

"It was candles and flowers and then the next day we went to Paris."

The pair got engaged in 2018, and although they no longer work together on Emmerdale it was the launch of their romance together.

Chris Chittell and Lesley Dunlop

Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell (ITV)

The stars, who play Eric Pollard and Brenda Walker, are married in real life.

They have shared many scenes together, including kissing scenes in lockdown which had confused fans at first.

They first became a couple back in 2008 and then got hitched eight years later in June 2016.

Their characters did have a brief fling on the show in 2012, but Chris and Lesley asked writers to avoid making them a long-term pairing on Emmerdale.

Lesley has two sons from a previous relationship.

Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden

These two are possibly the most well-known of all Emmerdale’s real life couples.

Co-stars Charley and Matthew married in 2018 after a nine-year relationship. Charley plays Debbie Dingle and Matthew is known as David Metcalfe.

The co-stars have three children together called Buster, Bowie and Ace.

Chelsea Halfpenny and James Baxter

Last year, it was reported former Emmerdale stars Chelsea Halfpenny and James Baxter were dating.

Chelsea, who played Amy Wyatt until 2013, has shared several photos with James, who played Jake Doland, on social media.

It is thought their romance blossomed during their time together working on Emmerdale.
