Both BBC and ITV soap fans were devastated tonight as not a single soap episode aired this evening as part of a schedule shake-up.
The soaps are a British institution and a much loved part of evening television.
Though since the global outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, filming has been suspended on many shows and both the BBC and ITV have made tough decisions regarding the airing of the much loved shows.
ITV confirmed its soaps would continue to run through the spring and into the early summer - though being shown less frequently in an effort to make pre-recorded episodes last longer.
EastEnders has cancelled filming for the foreseeable future, as the coronavirus outbreak continued to spread.
The BBC soap made the decision to suspend filming last month after the latest government advice.
The decision means that only two episodes will be shown on two days of the week, in what is a huge schedule shake-up.
Tonight saw not a single soap aired on television.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Beth said: "Ugh, so on Monday they have #Corrie, #Emmerdale & #EastEnders but on a Thursday they have none. Why not spread them out @BBC @ITV?"
Kate said: "I understand why we can’t have @emmerdale every night but really @ITV, replacing it with You’ve Been Framed!?"
And Hayley took to watching old episodes of EastEnders to get her fix: "watching old eastenders look who pats watching while she’s in a deep depression".
Another viewer added: "No Hollyoaks, no Eastenders wtf am I suppose to do on a Thursday".
