Due to several FA Cup matches this week, changes to Emmerdale and Coronation Street will not start until March 7.
Kate Oates, BBC's head of continuing drama, said: "We're delighted that, from March 7, there will be new regular time slots for EastEnders.
"This new simplified schedule means it's even easier for viewers to get their fix, as well as being able to watch whenever and wherever they choose on @bbciplayer.
"EastEnders' new 7.30pm slot begins with a hugely exciting week, as killer Gray Atkins is finally exposed."
John Whiston, ITV's managing director of continuing drama said: “With Coronation Street bursting at the seams with fantastic story and character, the new format gives the show a brilliant new canvas on which to shine.
And Emmerdale will do what it does best in this new time slot where viewers can continue to enjoy the dramatic goings-on in the Dales.”
ITV pushed back the time of their soaps after announcing a new hour-long weekday national and international news programme at 6.30pm.
