With many of us watching the soaps play out on our screens weekly, we become familiar with a whole host of actors.
But just how much do stars of Corrie, EastEnders, and Emmerdale actors earn?
Here we take a look into some of the salaries in soap land.
Emmerdale
Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and EastEnders all pay their actors in a similar way, with each soap star awarded a fee for every episode they are in.
This fee can range from £400 to £2,000, depending on the storyline of the actor, popularity and time on the soap.
The majority of actors have a guaranteed number of episodes per year and a repeat fee, which gives them a stable income.
Salaries in soap land can range from around £12,000 to over £200,000 depending on how often an actor appears in the show.
Those who appear in Emmerdale regularly will have racked up a generous salary over the years.
For example, Danny Miller has starred in over 1,400 episodes as Aaron Dingle over 13 years, so it's likely he has amassed a decent sum.
Coronation Street
Corrie's actors are paid in a similar way to those in Emmerdale - though some big names are paid considerable amounts.
Jack P Shepherd who plays David Platt is reportedly the highest paid earner on the show.
In 2018, the Mirror reported Jack had been awarded a bumper new contract worth £250,000. That’s £30,000 more than his previous deal.
Steve McDonald actor Simon Gregson is believed to be another of the higher earners on Corrie.
Simon has been with the cast of Coronation Street since 1989, being one of the longest serving cast members, and has been part of various hard-hitting storylines and plenty of comedy ones too.
He is reportedly earning around earning £150,000 in his role.
Known for playing Ken Barlow, Bill Roache has spent the longest time ever on the soap and has been a part of the show since it very first aired.
While the actor will turn 90 this year, there’s no sign of him slowing down from his role on the cobbles as it was in 2021 that executives were looking to sign him up for another bumper deal worth six figures.
There are reportedly huge storyline plans to mark his special birthday.
EastEnders
EastEnders has an annual budget of £29.9million - that works out at £141,000 per episode — or 3.5p per viewer hour.
Its longest-serving cast member, Adam Woodyatt, aka Ian Beale, reportedly takes home a figure between £200,000 and £250,000.
Danny Dyer, who will soon leave his role as Queen Vic landlord Mic Carter, allegedly takes home a home a whopping £400,000 a year - OK! reports.
And in 2017, the Daily Star reported Phil Mitchell actor Steve McFadden to be earning £310,000.
