Emmerdale killer Meena Jutla's plan to frame Kim Tate for the murder of Andrea Tate fell flat on Thursday.
But the police raised suspicions over a new suspect during the latest episode of the ITV soap, after releasing Kim because they didn't have enough evidence against her.
They did question whether she was involved with the help of another resident though, with missing Jamie Tate now possibly deemed a suspect.
Jamie is presumed dead after his car swerved into a lake last month, but his body has not been found.
Kim is convinced her son is still alive and might be faking his death, and these claims only created more questions for her when she was interrogated by the detective looking into Andrea's death.
Her post-mortem results have concluded Andrea did not die as a result of the maze fire, but she sustained a fatal blow to the head.
While investigations continue, it is predicted that Andrea was murdered in the maze, and then a fire was started to cover up the crime.
This theory was put to Kim as she was accused of the murder, after she and Andrea had a bitter row the day before she died.
Kim denied killing her, and talk soon turned to her missing son Jamie - with the lead detective asking her if she truly believed Jamie was alive.
When she said she did, he quickly accused her of having been in contact with Jamie, and suggested that the pair plotted Andrea's murder together.
Querying whether she knew Jamie's whereabouts, the detective then spoke as if Jamie himself could now be a suspect - before adding there was actually no reason to believe he survived the crash last month.
So is Jamie alive, and if he does return will he be the next villager to face questioning?
Viewers know that it was Meena who murdered Andrea, after she saw her trying to drown Victoria Sugden in the river.
She chased Andrea around the maze before slamming her head on a wooden post, and leaving her for dead.
The maze was on fire at this point, because Andrea accidentally fired a flare gun at the maize after a struggle with Meena.
Meena then attacked Andrea - and it seems this attack is what eventually killed her, and not the fire.
It was Meena who told the police about Kim threatening Andrea the day before her death, filling them in on their feud.
She framed Kim in a bid to pass off the blame, but with Kim now released without charge could it mean Meena is under threat again?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
