Emmerdale confirms Zak Dingle's whereabouts amid coronavirus lockdown as he leaves village

Emmerdale viewers learned where Zak Dingle was, as he disappeared from the village amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The ITV soap launched their special lockdown episodes on Monday night, featuring limited cast members.

Sam Dingle and wife Lydia took centre stage in the first episode, with Lydia hearing from her father-in-law Zak.

More characters will be filming again soon, as in real life production has resumed with strict social distancing measures in place.

But older cast members or those considered high-risk will not be filming for the time being, until it is safer for them.

Actor Steve Halliwell is one of those cast members it seems, with character Zak having left the village.

He only returned earlier this year following a six month break, heading back to the village for Sam and Lydia's wedding.

Since then, the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the UK and the world, with filming only recently restarting.

One character who won't be back for a while it seems is Zak, whose whereabouts were disclosed to viewers in the latest episode - with Lydia hinting he was having to stay indoors because of his age.

She confirmed he was back in Scotland with his granddaughter Debbie Dingle, and that he would be there for lockdown.

It comes amid emotional scenes for the couple, as Sam sparked concern with his behaviour.

He kicked everyone out of the house, and didn't seem too bothered that his teenage son Samson was stranded on a school trip.

When he heard Lydia had ordered a click and collect food order, Sam eventually lost it and raged at his partner.

Fearing for her life amid the pandemic, it soon became clear what was bothering him so much.

In emotional scenes, he begged his wife to get tested for Huntington's disease, which her father died from, and tried to make her see his fear of losing her, especially with the virus taking hold in the UK.

He told her: "Are you a total idiot? I have been trying to keep you safe you know I have. You don’t want to talk about the Huntington's, it don’t mean it might not be there."

Later on in the episode, he begged Lydia to take a test after finding son Samson's original version of his best man's speech - with Lydia and Sam tying the knot recently.

Emmerdale airs Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV.
