Emmerdale’s Maya Stepney is back in the village again next week, weeks on from being arrested for grooming teenage stepson Jacob Gallagher.
In shocking events the character is attacked and taken to hospital, but events soon take a worrying turn for her ex, Jacob’s father, David Metcalfe.
He’s soon facing blame over the incident, and even heads to the hospital for a showdown with Maya.
It all kicks off at the start of the week, when the police come knocking at the shop to quiz David over what happened to his ex.
He’s left worried in the fallout, as suspicion grows that he was behind it.
Jacob, who is still in love with Maya, is left alarmed when he hears she’s been injured, and he’s quick to blame his dad.
As David heads to the hospital, they end up having a heated exchange just as PC Swirling arrives on the ward.
In light of the confrontation, Maya tells the officer who attacked her – but will she tell the truth, and who is behind it?
While the soap have not confirmed names, it isn’t looking good for David, who is then escorted out by the officer only to find Jacob at the hospital.
He’s furious with him being there, trying desperately to keep the pair apart amid his hopes of making the teenager see he’s been groomed.
But Jacob drops a bombshell about his father that leaves David’s friends and family turning against him - could it be that he’s the attacker?
David is in turmoil over what goes down, but ends up making things even worse the next day as he continues to feel alone.
Will Maya tear the family apart for good, or can David get himself back on track?
