Emmerdale confirms identity of April's bully after sinister birthday threat

Emmerdale's April Windsor found her bullying ordeal escalate during Monday's episode of the ITV soap, leading to a shocking reveal.

The identity of April's troll was finally confirmed to viewers, after a distressing message caused her to retaliate.

It was her birthday party, but she was fearful of being in the house after recent taunts.

When she opened a birthday card that teased her mystery bully was planning on visiting her home, she was no longer in the mood to celebrate.

While at The HOP for her party, she was understandably in a bad mood, and was even more upset when her dad Marlon Dingle missed most of her big day.

But he had no idea of the turmoil she was facing, after he recently discovered she was being trolled on social media.

He decided to take her phone away from her, believing this was the right solution - while of course this was never going to stop the torment.

She was given her phone back for her birthday, and even though she promised to avoid social media she soon caved.

Emmerdale's first episode of the week confirmed the identity of April Windsor's online troll (ITV)

April logged back online only to find more taunts from her secret troll, before she confided in her friend Cathy Hope.

Cathy encouraged April to forget about it and enjoy her birthday, but it all got too much for the 12 year old.

She ended up retaliating by replying to the troll, telling them to drop dead and leave her alone.

Soon enough, she received more taunts in response, with someone calling her out for her comments - while even Cathy told her it was a bit full on.

April had enough, revealing her birthday had been ruined before she got up and walked away.

It's then that the identity of her bully was finally unveiled to viewers, with many having correctly predicted who it was.

Cathy was then seen on her own phone, responding to April with a cruel comment (ITV)

It was revealed to be someone very close to home, as Cathy was shown smirking in response to April saying her birthday had been ruined.

Cathy was then seen on her own phone, responding to April with a cruel comment about everyone knowing what she was really like now.

The profile was that of the troll, therefore confirming it was her account and her behind all of the mean trolling and taunts the entire time.

It's not yet clear why exactly she is bullying April, who is basically family to her, and it's also not clear if anyone will uncover the truth soon.

This isn't the first time Cathy has targeted a villager in a mean way, with her and twin brother Heath harassing Eric Pollard earlier this year.

From breaking one of his valuable ornaments to playing tricks on him, and trying to blackmail him into giving them what they wanted, Cathy certainly has history.

Heath was vile to April a few weeks ago about her dead mother Donna, while it is not known if he is also involved or knows that his sister is behind it all.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
