Emmerdale bad boy Asan N'Jie makes TV comeback following controversial exit from ITV soap

An Emmerdale bad boy has returned to our screens following his controversial exit from the ITV soap.

The eagle-eyed amongst you might have spotted Asan N'Jie back on TV in BBC One’s new drama Bloodlands. The Sunday night show stars James Nesbitt and Charlene McKenna.

Another actor in it is Asan N'Jie, 26, who previously played Ellis Chapman in Emmerdale. You may remember, Asan was axed from the show in 2019 following a heated brawl with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards that year.

The actor issued an apology at the time of his dismissal from the show, before he was replaced by actor Aaron Anthony.

Our colleagues at The Mirror report it was confirmed last year Asan had secured a role in the new BBC drama, and this week he took to Twitter to promote the much-anticipated series and his TV comeback.

He wrote: "Hope you all enjoy #bloodlands tomorrow 9pm #bbcone really grateful for having the chance to be a small part of the journey! You guys will love it."

Fans responded to his upcoming role, with one tweeting: "Looking forward to watching it tonight. I'm sure it will be great!!"

But not everyone realised he was part of the show until it aired, so some soap fans were surprised to spot him amongst the cast.

One fan tweeted: "Original Ellis from Emmerdale!"

Another said: "Great to see @AsanNjie aka the real Ellis Chapman on tv again."

A third added: "#Bloodlands Good to see @AsanNjie given another opportunity."

A fourth said: "Original Ellis #Emmerdale#Bloodlands."

Meanwhile another asked: "Is that the actor who used to be in Emmerdale? The one who was sacked?"
