Emmerdale and Coronation Street in ITV schedule shake-up as BGT semi-final week looms

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will move times in an ITV schedule shake-up.

The two soaps have not long had their times changed to fit in with ITV's extended news programme coverage, but now Emmerdale will return to its usual 7pm slot for one week only as the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals air.

On the week commencing May 30, the show - set in the Yorkshire Dales - will return to its 7pm slot and air a half an hour episode, whilst Coronation Street will air every day at 7.30pm for half an hour in a huge change to the usual schedule.

As well as changing times, Emmerdale's usual hour episode on Thursdays will be cut to half an hour, whilst Corrie will air a huge week of episodes in a special flashforward week to coincide with the time change.

This will allow the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals to be aired from 8pm on ITV every night that week.

The big week for Corrie will see the feud between Abi Webster and Imran Habeeb and Toyah Battersby come to a head.

Things are spinning out of control in Weatherfield, and as the battle for baby Alfie intensifies, there will be huge consequences which will cause quite the chaos and carnage on the cobbles. A new promo video shows Abi and Imran locking eyes as they do all they can to get custody of their child after accidentally conceiving a baby when they have a one night stand.

The haunting preview video starts when Abi and Imran lock eyes. The pair are currently embroiled in a fight for custody of their son but solicitor and biological father Imran has paid an associate to lie about Abi, making it appear to the court that she’s back on drugs.

MD Continuing Drama & Head of ITV in the North, John Whiston said: "The pigeons really do come home to roost for some of Corrie's best loved characters in this fantastic week of edge of your seat drama.

"Secrets unravel, truths hurt and lives well and truly turn upside down as the lengths Imran went to to take baby Alfie away from Abi are revealed. Whether your sympathies are with Abi, with Toyah or with Imran, this is not a week to be missed."

But will Abi be able to prove she's innocent or will Imran's lies secure him the win?
