Emmerdale and Coronation Street cancelled tonight

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will not air tonight.

The most recent instalments of the two soaps have been postponed by ITV.

It comes as Friday's episode of Emmerdale and Corrie was also cancelled.

Fans will now have to wait until Tuesday to watch the drama unfold.

There will be a one-hour episode of Emmerdale on Tuesday, followed by a one-hour airing of Coronation Street.

Wednesday's usual double-bill of Corrie will continue, as well as a 30-minute showing of Emmerdale.

Why is there no Emmerdale or Coronation Street?

The soaps have been cancelled due to an international football match.

Tonight, (Monday, November 15) England face San Marino as they play their final qualifying match at San Marino Stadium.

Match coverage for the game starts at 7pm until 10pm.

Understandably, soap fans are devastated by the change to the schedule.

Lauren tweeted: "No Emmerdale or Corrie tonight. Thanks football."

Simon wrote: "Tuesday?! Stick the b***** football on ITV2 not everyone likes it! Always has to interfere with our Corrie schedules."

Russell commented: "Sorry but I’m proper FEWMIN. Sat down to watch Corrie and the p****** football is on AGAIN."

And Sharon said: "Why can't @ITV put the football on @itv2 we want #corrie and #emmerdale."
