Emmerdale Al Chapman actor Michael Wildman teases comeback after dramatic exit from ITV soap

Emmerdale actor Michael Wildman has teased the possibility of him returning to the ITV hit soap. The star played villainous businessman Al Chapman but decided to quit the show last October.

Michael has recently teased that his character Al could come back from the dead. In a chat with BBC Radio Oxford he admitted to causing "havoc" in the Dales.

He confessed: "I was only meant to be here for about six months," to which the presenter replied: "Three years?"

He confirmed: "Three and a half years because he just kept getting into trouble basically." After being quizzed if he would do another soap, he added: "I can't go to the dark side.

"I have to represent Emmerdale. There's always a chance I can come back like Bobby Ewing in the shower you know. That's what I am holding out for." Last October, his character Al became the fourth character in a month to be killed off as part of the show's 50th birthday celebrations, The Sun reports.

The dramatic episode saw Cain Dingle, armed with a gun, discover his sister Chas was secretly dating Al. The two feuding men had a fight which ended with Al being shot dead.

At the time, a source said: “Michael has really enjoyed his time at Emmerdale but it’s the right thing to move on. He’s had some massive storylines but all good things must come to an end.”

Previously talking to the Mirror about Al's dramatic departure, Michael said: "My biggest thing now is picking up the pieces for Mum, as she is going to be crying like crazy. But I don't think many others are going to be gutted Al is dead.

"Al and Cain have been at loggerheads on and off for two years. They have done a lot of talking, there has been a lot of banter but ultimately, Al was blinded by love.

"He had fallen heavily for Chas and this was his downfall. Al and Cain had no room left for talk. They wanted a scrap but until last night, they didn’t know where that fight would end. I wanted Al to go out with a bang, and last night he most definitely did."
