After being traded to the 49ers on Tuesday, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders posted the following message to Broncos fans on his Instagram page:
It’s never easy to split but I just wanna say thank you to Broncos country and the entire @broncos organization for embracing me the past 6 years. We’ve shared some special moments together that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I am content on leaving bc I know that I gave you guys all that I had day in and day out… The orange and blue will always have a special place in my heart. 🔶🔷
Sanders was one of the top-10 wide receivers in franchise history and he was a key part of the team that won Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Denver general manager John Elway spoke about Sanders during a conference call with reporters Tuesday.
“He did a nice job for us,” Elway said. “Emmanuel had a lot of catches and played hard. He was a competitive guy. He did a good job while he was here. We thought it was the best move again for us as well as for Emmanuel. Emmanuel was very good for the five-and-a-half years that he was here.”
Sanders is leaving a 2-5 Broncos team to join a 6-0 49ers squad.
