Emmanuel Petit gives brutal verdict on Stan Kroenke’s ownership of Arsenal

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has given a brutal verdict on Stan Kroenke’s current ownership of the North London club.

The Gunners’ current owners have earned plenty of criticism in recent years for their erratic approach to the transfer market, as well as the intention to take Arsenal into the European Super League.

Numerous protests against their current position have taken place outside of the Emirates Stadium since, demanding the Kroenkes sell the club as soon as possible.

Petit, who represented the Gunners between 1997 and 2000, appears to share those thoughts, implying that the north Londoners are not relatable to the team that he used to play for whilst also giving instructions to the current ownership.

Speaking to The Gooner, Petit said: “I don't recognise this club anymore. They are at the end of the street.”

“Please, please stop making mistakes in the transfer market.

“The profile of some of our current players is all wrong. Please please, please stop, this is my only request.”

The vitriol against the club’s current owners reached a crescendo this summer with the Kroenkes rebuffing Daniel Ek’s offer to purchase the club.

Petit has suggested that he isn’t moved over who is in charge of the club, just as long as they do things correctly by the Gunners and supporters.

“After what happened with the European Super League and the frustration of the fans, I don't care if it’s Daniel Ek, the owner of Spotify or still the same owners, they have the money and they need to spend it carefully,” the former midfielder continued.

“Please don't throw the money out of the window. We all know what Arsenal is missing. So for the first time, can you do it properly without making any more mistakes?”
