Emmanuel Petit believes Neymar ‘would love’ to join Arsenal as he talks up shock summer transfer from PSG

Emmanuel Petit believes Neymar would “love” playing for Arsenal as he urged the Brazilian to consider making the switch to north London.

It has been reported that PSG are willing to listen to offers for Neymar this summer, as they look to move away from the era of big-name signings that has been their trademark in the unsuccessful search for Champions League glory.

Supporters of the club gathered outside the 31-year-old’s house earlier this month and chanted for him leave PSG, with the atmosphere increasingly toxic as fans also turned on Lionel Messi.

Neymar’s contract in Paris does not expire until 2025, but Manchester United are among the clubs linked with a summer move for him and there appears to be a willingness on PSG’s part to sanction his exit.

Petit wants his former club Arsenal to make a shock move, believing Neymar’s injury problems would not be an issue for the Gunners considering their strength in depth in wide areas.

“I think Neymar will suit any big club,” Petit told Genting Casino.

“If he comes to Arsenal, I would love it and I think he will too. I think he will enjoy the technical football and the style of Arsenal. He would love to play with younger players as he is quite mature himself.

“He will also have revenge on his mind with everything that he has been going through at PSG, and the tears he shed at the World Cup. I think he will be happy to move to Arsenal if that is the case. He can play on the left and the right, and because of his ankle injuries he can be a player in rotation.”
