Emma Willis admits to encouraging paranoia in her children to avoid 'being screwed over'

Emma Willis has admitted to encouraging paranoia in her children to avoid them 'being screwed over'.

The TV presenter was talking ahead of hosting Channel 4's The Circle which puts social media in the spotlight in a game where "anyone can be anyone".

Emma said that she herself is paranoid, especially in the social media age, and has told her children to "be super-paranoid but try and enjoy it".

The former Big Brother host was explaining how The Circle teaches viewers a valuable lesson about the risk children face online as the winner of the first series 'catfished' his was to the final.

"Have that paranoia in your day-to-day life as well, when you're not watching that TV show, or when you're not a contestant on that game show," Emma said.

Emma is the new host of Channel 4's The Circle (Channel 4)

"Be paranoid. I'm such a paranoid person - and I love it. And I try and instil it in my kids.

"And you're always kind of away and you'll never fall into a trap of being screwed over or lured into something."

The mum-of-three, who is married to Busted star Matt Willis, also had her say on the perils, but also the positive nature of being on social media.

Emma said: "I think you need to be very level-headed when it comes to social media. Be aware of it.

"It can be an incredibly positive place, a helpful place. But, like everything, there's good and bad. isn't there? So the best thing to do is be educated and knowledgeable on both sides of it."

The Circle returns to Channel 4 on September 24.
