Emma Raducanu’s outfit from historic US Open triumph to be displayed at the Tennis Hall of Fame

Emma Raducanu has earned more recognition for her historic US Open triumph as it was revealed her outfit from that victorious campaign will be displayed at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Rhode Island.

This month, the 18-year-old from Bromley became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam and also the first British woman to win a major singles title for 44 years when she defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the Flushing Meadows final.

That stunning triumph captured the imagination of sports fans across the world, and the Tennis Hall of Fame has now revealed that Raducanu has donated her kit from New York so that it can go on show.

“A legendary run: preserved,” tweeted the Tennis Hall of Fame.

“Thank you, @EmmaRaducanu, for donating your memorable #USOpen outfit to the ITHF collection!”

Raducanu started 2021 as the world No345 but after her astonishing rise this year, reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon on her Grand Slam debut before her run in New York, has sent her soaring to 22nd in the rankings.

She has had a whirlwind few weeks since that triumph, attending the Met Gala in New York alongside a host of stars, and playing tennis back in England with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
