Raducanu responds to Klopp after Liverpool boss praise following US Open win

Emma Raducanu has said she is ‘really grateful’ to Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool manager heaped praise on the young tennis star after her stunning US Open victory.

The 18-year-old shocked the world when she triumphed at Flushing Meadows on Saturday, winning the tournament without dropping a single set.

Klopp labelled Raducanu the ‘talent of the century’ and lauded her hard work to clinch the prize as she defeated Canada’s Leyla Fernandez in the showpiece final.

Impressed by what he witnessed, the German insisted Raducanu’s performance has inspired him to watch more women’s tennis than he has in previous years.

Guardiola defends Man City fan comments

Pep Guardiola has insisted he does not want Manchester City to be like Liverpool and defended comments he made about his side's support after Wednesday's Champions League win over RB Leipzig.

The City boss came under fire from Sky Blues supporters after urging more fans to attend tomorrow's home fixture against Southampton, having witnessed just over 38,000 supporters turn out for their first European match of the campaign.

His comments resulted in the City Official Supporters Club general secretary Kevin Parker asking Guardiola to 'stick to coaching' and be more considerate of the financial problems facing fans on the back of the pandemic.

But Guardiola today stated that he is more than happy with the club's fan base and is glad the Citizens have their own identity to rivals such as Liverpool and Manchester United.
